The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) enforces, among other statutes, Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Title IX protects individuals from discrimination based on sex in education programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. On May 6th, the Department of Education issued its Final Rule changing the Title IX obligations of all schools and the new rule is to come into effect on August 14th, 2020.
