Eastern's Workforce Education Department is excited to announce a six-part series of free marketing trainings for the community! Morgan Branson, recent WVU Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) graduate and Public Relations Manager at Eastern, will lead this series, which will focus on digital and social media marketing. Digital and Social Media Marketing for Beginners: March 10 at 6:00 PM 

What is the difference between digital and social media? How can using digital and social media help to connect with existing customers and attract new ones? In this training, you will get an introduction to the basics of digital and social media marketing and how this rapidly growing and increasingly effective industry can help take your business to the next level. You will learn about the various social media platforms, how they are used across different industries, and how they can fit into your marketing mix. In this training, you will learn: 

  • Overview introduction to marketing (terms, types, principles). 

  • How to define social and digital media. 

  • The main social media platforms: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube, and how to create and manage an account on these platforms. 

  • How different industries use social media, and how you can use it in your industry.

Advanced Digital and Social Media Marketing: March 31 at 6:00 PM 

In this training, we will take a deeper look at building and executing a digital and social media marketing strategy. Learn more about creating content, establishing a brand voice, monitoring and understanding engagement metrics and analytics, and creating and measuring objectives and tactics. Learn about the best (and mostly free!) resources and tools available to get started on your digital and social media marketing strategy today. In this training, you will learn:

  • How to develop and execute a social media strategy, including content creation. 
  • Understanding social and digital media engagement and analytics/how to measure the success of your digital and social media efforts.  

  • Free and low-cost tools and resources that are available to get started your business on digital and social today.

The Importance of Digital and Social Media in a Post-COVID World: April 13 at 6:00 PM 

The year 2020 disrupted nearly every aspect of our lives, having a huge impact on consumer and purchasing behavior. The pandemic pushed more people online to find more ways to engage with one another. In this training, we will look at emerging trends and data behind the impact of pandemic on marketing (specifically digital + social) and what this means in a post-pandemic world. In this training, you will learn:
