As the economy continues to recover, the healthcare field continues to offer high demand jobs. And many of these jobs, including certified nurse assistants (CNAs) and phlebotomists (blood-drawers), require only a short-term training to prepare for employment.
At Eastern WV Community and Technical College, area residents can learn the skills necessary for CNA and phlebotomy work. Depending on interest, Eastern will offer the trainings this fall in Keyser at the Mineral County Technical Center. The courses will prepare learners to earn certificates that mean ‘job-competent’ to employers.
Eastern’s CNA training will qualify successful learners to take WV’s state certification exam. The phlebotomy course readies them for the National HealthCareer Association exam, a credential recognized industry-wide.
Each course includes both classroom and clinical (hands-on) training. For more information, and to register, interested learners should call Eastern’s Workforce Education Department at 304-434-8000, or toll-free 877-982-2322, ext. 253.
