Institution Transformation Leader/Program Coordinator                         

Position: Full- time; Benefits eligible; Non-classified, Exempt status; Grant Funded (ends 9/30/16)
Location: Moorefield Headquarters

General Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Bridging the Gap project at Eastern WVCTC
  • Support consortium-level career pathways development and refinement
  • Support sector partnership development, and implement those changes at Eastern including
    • obtaining approval for program changes and creating and adjusting program schedules to accelerate credential attainment and promote efficiencies
    • supporting consortium-level instructional projects, including gateway, bridge, capstone, online, blended, and remote courses and laboratories, as well as instructional partnerships
    • implementing those changes at Eastern.

Specific Duties:

  1. Responsible for driving the Bridging the Gap (BTG) project at Eastern
  2. Serves as point of contact with BTG Project Manager
  3. Responsible for working with institutional CFO and IR staff to produce progress reports, which are submitted quarterly to Project Manager, Eastern President and WVCTC Chancellor
  4. Eliminates obstacles for Eastern staff on sector-based teams (energy, advanced manufacturing, IT, construction trades)
  5. Coordinates the recruitment of the peer coaches, counselors and developmental education coordinators
  6. Works with BTG developmental education transformation leader to coordinate the work of the developmental education coordinators at Eastern
  7. Oversees the work of peer coaches and counselors in achieving project goals
  8. Supports consortium-level career pathways development and refinement for advanced manufacturing or energy-industry relevant course
  9. Works with businesses in the advanced manufacturing or energy sector to develop partnerships and communicate about training needs; and applies that development to curricular design and course implementation
  10. Implements changes to advanced manufacturing or energy courses and curricula at Eastern, including working with registrars and department heads to adjust program schedules.
  11. Works to develop course pathways that will accelerate credential attainment in advanced manufacturing or energy, including working to develop clear protocols for Prior Learning Assessment and helping to develop gateway, bridge and capstone courses
  12. Assists in the development of online, blended and remote delivery models for advanced manufacturing or energy courses and assists in the implementation of those courses at Eastern

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and competence in technical education, academic planning, program development and higher learning education
  • Excellent writing skills; the ability to clearly articulate policies, procedures and professional responses to inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex financial information
  • Tact, diplomacy and a professional demeanor

Education, Experience and Training

  • Master’s degree required, terminal degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with or at a Community College

Developmental Education Coordinator

Position: Full Time 12 Month, Non-Tenure Faculty, Benefits eligible, Grant Funded Position (Ends 09/30/16)
Location:
Moorefield, WV

Responsibilities:

  • Support consortium-level efforts to provide English, reading, math, and digital literacy remediation
  • Follow best practices and support the goal of accelerating student learning and shortening time to a degree
  • Teach 3-6 credit hours per semester in courses within developmental education
  • Position will be responsible for: recruiting, mentoring, evaluating and scheduling adjunct instructors and teaching assistants for developmental education courses
  • Assisting with student placement and tracking into developmental Math and English courses for technical students·
  • Evaluate and revise course outlines, content and materials based on assessment in collaboration with full-time Math and English Faculty
  • Overall coordination and development, implementation, and scheduling of the Developmental Education program in the areas of math, reading and English
  • Collect data, analyze and report student performance
  • Maintain competency and currency in the discipline taught as well as in teaching strategies and assessment methods
  • Coordinate and implement appropriate instructional technology software/hardware for course delivery
  • Serve as a member on College committees
  • Perform other professional duties.

Qualifications:

  • Education – Master’s Degree in Education or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Math or English.
  • Preferred Experience - Experience teaching at college level, and implementing curricula for developmental math and/or English courses; prior experience in instructional technology software/hardware implementation.
  • Some travel required throughout the College’s service district.  Responsibilities require availability and willingness to work flexible schedule hours, including day, evenings and weekends (if required). 
  • Willingness/and ability to work with varied levels of abilities and a diverse population.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, plus full and highly competitive benefits package.  Retirement plan options include TIAA-CREF.

Nursing Instructor (immediate need) 

Position:         Nursing, Adjunct Faculty
Location:        Work 2 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday, times vary) in clinical setting and                                         laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional supervisory nursing practice in the care of the physically and mentally ill
  • Work involves responsibility for supervising the provision of quality nursing care given at the facility
  • Maintain the quality and adequacy of nursing practice
  • Recognize and assist in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in an assigned area
  • Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge to solve nursing problems within established policies and practices
  • Position is reviewed by the supervisor through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained                           

Education Required: 

  • Master’s degree in Nursing; or 
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing and must be admitted into a graduate degree program in nursing within one year of the hire date

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of current experience in nursing practice and education sufficient to demonstrate professional competence
  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in West Virginia
  • Worked within the last 5 years in Medical/Surgical area of nursing

Evening Administrative Asstistant

Position: Part-time 20 hours week (1,000 hours); 4:00pm-9:30pm; pay grade 10, classified employee, non-exempt status 
Location: Main Campus, Moorefield

This position performs a variety of administrative duties following established departmental policies, procedures and methods in support of various departments throughout the college as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors; provide general information to visitors and students
  • Direct visitors and students to appropriate staff for assistance
  • Answer telephone calls, provide general information to callers and direct them to the appropriate staff for assistance
  • Lock Eastern’s main campus
  • Maintain a supervisory role with students
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Blackboard/WebCT
  • Proctor examinations as necessary
  • Facilitate communications between Eastern headquarters, Discovery Centers, faculty, and students
  • Refer students to tutoring
  • Respond to requests for information
  • Perform evening hours help desk functions 
  • Provide technology support to students and faculty before class startup and during classes as requested
  • Set up projectors, laptops, trouble-shoot and resolve problems with computers and video distance learning equipment
  • Make video connections when needed
  • Use web interface to make connections on remote distance learning equipment
  • When needed, train faculty on the use of video distance learning equipment, i.e.: Document cameras, DVD/VCR Players, classroom projectors and operation of projection screens
  • Trouble-shoot and resolve printing problems when needed 
  • Assist students, faculty and staff with connecting to our public and secure wireless access points
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Education – High School Diploma required.  Associate degree preferred, or a combination of education and 18 months of work experience
  • Information technology knowledge preferred but not required
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with office computer software packages, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Access.
  • Responsibilities require the ability to work well with others in a team environment, including the public.

Adult Basic Education Instructional Aide 

Position: Part-time: 20 hours week for 35 weeks Grant Funded Position
Location: Petersburg

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Assumes responsibility for supervising students assigned by teacher
  2. Demonstrates the ability to plan and prioritize his/her daily activity
  3. Respects the confidentiality of information associated with schools/students/parents
  4. Provides individual and small group instruction under the supervision of the teacher
  5. Exhibits competence in the subject areas
  6. Maintains record keeping and performs routine clerical duties as it pertains to student programs
  7. Maintains cooperative working relationships and exhibits professional behavior with director, supervising teacher, students, parents, general staff, and the public
  8. Works well with minimum supervision
  9. Exhibits competence in managing students
  10. Demonstrates knowledge of office equipment, computers, and other technology in meeting the needs of the students.
  11. Enters ABE 400 and 300 form data into AEMIS reporting system.
  12. Attends required ABE pre-service and in-service training
  13. Reports to: The local ABE Director and assigned teacher

Qualifications:

  1. High school diploma or High school equivalent required; Associates degree preferred
  2. Strong knowledge of math and language skills
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills
  4. Possesses a genuine and positive interest served by Adult Basic Education (ages 16+)
  5. Knowledge of office machines and technology
