Nursing Instructor (immediate need) 

Position:         Nursing, Adjunct Faculty
Location:        Work 2 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday, times vary) in clinical setting and                                         laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional supervisory nursing practice in the care of the physically and mentally ill
  • Work involves responsibility for supervising the provision of quality nursing care given at the facility
  • Maintain the quality and adequacy of nursing practice
  • Recognize and assist in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in an assigned area
  • Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge to solve nursing problems within established policies and practices
  • Position is reviewed by the supervisor through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained                           

Education Required: 

  • Master’s degree in Nursing; or 
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing and must be admitted into a graduate degree program in nursing within one year of the hire date

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of current experience in nursing practice and education sufficient to demonstrate professional competence
  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in West Virginia
  • Worked within the last 5 years in Medical/Surgical area of nursing

Biological & Environmental Technology Faculty (Sciences)

Position: Full Time 12-Month, Non-Tenure, Benefits eligible, Grant Funded Position
Location: Moorefield, WV

Responsibilities:

  • Overall development, coordination, implementation, and scheduling in the area of science with emphasis on the Biological & Environmental Technology Program Establish and oversee the program advisory committee
  • Conduct research and complete a program needs assessment
  • Evaluate and revise course outlines, content and materials
  • Prepare preliminary class schedules and recommend to the Division Chair appropriate adjunct faculty qualified to teach in the program
  • Prepare all reports and assessment processes needed by the institution regarding the program
  • Evaluate student performance
  • Maintain competency and currency in the discipline taught as well as in teaching strategies and assessment methods
  • Teach 3-12 credit hours each semester
  • Oversee the science classrooms/labs
  • Coordinate student internships and CAPSTONE
  • Order equipment and supplies needed for implementation of the program
  • Facilitate adjunct faculty development, mentor, and conduct performance reviews
  • Coordinate and implement appropriate instructional technology software/hardware into course delivery
  • Serve on assigned college committees including faculty assembly

Qualifications:

Education – Master’s Degree in Science or related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Science 
Experience - Experience teaching at college level; and designing and developing curricula for college science programs. Prior experience in instructional technology software/hardware implementation

  • Some travel required throughout the College’s service district
  • Responsibilities require availability and willingness to work flexible schedule hours, including day, evenings and weekends (if required)
  • Willingness/and ability to work with varied levels of abilities and a diverse population
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience plus full and highly competitive benefits package.
Retirement plan options include TIAA-CREF.

Instructional Specialist – Cosmetology Part-time

Position: Part-time Evenings and Weekend days as needed; (Average of 20-25 hours/week).  Benefits Eligible.
Location:   South Branch Career and Technical Center, Petersburg WV

This position is dependent on securing funding and student enrollment.

Eastern WV Community & Technical College seeks innovative instructors committed to community college students and their success.  The successful applicant will:

  • Utilize various technologies in the classroom and for delivery of instruction
  • Work with the full time Instructional Specialist to design and administer various areas of the program;
  • ave ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff and students as part of an education team
  • Write and update curricula, including course outlines and syllabi, as required by the institution or industry trends.

Requirements: 

Certification - Current West Virginia Cosmetology Instructor Certification required
E
xperience - Five years salon/shop experience or higher education teaching experience required

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work with others in a team environment
  • Excellent organizational skills required.

Expectations:  This instructor position will teach both traditional and non-traditional students, and will have primary responsibilities for teaching and assessing learning; institutional service; advising; and professional development. The college seeks to break the frame that traditionally surrounds instructor assignments, especially since academic needs vary.  Therefore, instructors should expect to integrate with their primary responsibilities some combination of the following:

  • Creating experiential learning opportunities and assessment techniques,  e.g., work-based & service learning; portfolio assessment, including developing and evaluating learning portfolios; etc.
  • Mentoring, students from target groups, new instructors or faculty, adjunct faculty
  • Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for live and online courses
  • Training & consulting for workforce initiatives. e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.
  • Developing & implementing community education and extended learning programs.
  • Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
  • Recruiting and marketing
  • Advising with expanded responsibilities
  • Devising retention strategies  and activities
  • Strengthening relations and collaborative activities with K-12 & baccalaureate-granting colleagues, Tech-Prep, School-to-Work, and 2+2 Programs.

Office Administrator – Human Resources Representative

Position: Part- time (22.5 Hours per wk .60) benefits eligible; Pay Grade 16; classified employee; exempt status; 12 month position.
Location:     Moorefield Campus

Provides administrative, executive support with frequent exposure to confidential issues and utilizing independent judgment and freedom of action.  Manages the day-to-day operations including work assignments of the President’s Office.   

Responsibilities:

For the President:

  • Manages the daily operations of the President’s office
  • Provides administrative support to the President
  • Serves as a partner to the President in daily operations of the college
  • Manages President’s travel
  • Prepares departmental purchase requisitions
  • Maintains a state purchasing card account ensuring accurate records are kept and reconciliation reports are completed on a monthly basis
  • Handles complaints and disputes brought to the President's office
  • Coordinates with Financial Aid Director and the President to track tuition waivers & scholarships for presentation to the Board of Governors

For the President’s Cabinet: 

  • Maintains President’s file on matters presented to the Cabinet
  • Gathers information required for the meeting
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings for Cabinet
  • Takes minutes of action items for the Cabinet meetings
  • Posts meeting agendas to the internal shared file
  • Maintains files and policies for governance structureServes as a member of the strategic planning team

For the Board of GovernorsServes as support to the Board of Governors with responsibility for the following: 

  • With the President’s approval, prepares all meeting agendas
  • Develops, duplicates, and e-mails all Board packets prior to each meeting
  • In consultation with the President, prepares annual schedule of Board meetings and activities
  • Plans and manages all aspects of the full Board meetings, its committees, and retreats, initiating follow-up actions required following each meeting
  • Transmits notice of Board actions to appropriate constituencies
  • Prepares official minutes in cooperation with the Board Chair
  • Maintains official permanent meeting records and other documents pertinent to the Board of Governors in both hard copy and electronic form
  • Publishes items to the website
  • Coordinates mailings from the President and Board Chair
  • Assists Board's members with travel plans, accommodations, and expense reimbursements when necessary
  • Provides individual notification and publication of open meeting agenda to the Board, the campus community, public and the Secretary of State’s Office
  • Prepares and edits correspondence for the President pertaining to the Board of Governors
  • Maintains the Board member contact information and publishes to the website
  • Tracks educational hours for Board Members’ completed educational paperwork submitted to the Chancellor’s office

For Special Events:

  • Plans and coordinates details for a variety of special events and projects, both internal and external, such as conferences, dinners, receptions, luncheons and meetings which may include community leaders, distinguished visitors, faculty, staff, students, administrators, and governmental officials.
    • Examples of such events include:  Annual Commencement Ceremony; WV Community & Technical scheduling and hosting Local Chambers of Commerce, Entrepreneurship outreaches, District Consortium, and Economic Summit partnerships meetings and events
  • Researches and gathers material and data, the majority of which is confidential, and arranges such information as requested

Requirements:

  • Education — Bachelor’s degree required 
  • Experience — Recent and relevant experience required
  • Must handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with office computer software packages, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Responsibilities require the ability to work well with others in a team environment, including the public

Backup Receptionist                         

Position:  “On Call” Casual employee
Location:  Moorefield Headquarters

This position provides the “face of Eastern,” by greeting students and visitors, answering telephone calls, and directing visitors.  This position is on call as needed to fill in for the front desk receptionist.

Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors; provide general information to visitors and students
  • Direct visitors and students to appropriate staff for assistance
  • Answer telephone calls, provide general information to callers and direct them to the appropriate staff for assistance
  • Type letters, reports proposal, forms and memorandum from rough draft to final form utilizing word process software and equipment
  • Proofread all typed material and corrects errors in sentence structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation
  • Receive and log mail
  • Distribute mail to appropriate mail

Requirements:

Education – High School Diploma required. 
Experience  Must be professional and have a pleasant personality.   Responsibilities require the ability to work well with others in a team environment, including the public.

Part-Time Contracted CDL Instructor

Position:  Part-Time Contracted CDL Instructor
Location:  Moorefield Headquarters, Eastern Complex

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for duties normally associated with training adult Workforce Education students in truck driving to include classroom and practical experience in over-the-road truck driving
  • Leads and manages students in the classroom
  • Provides timely, detailed and individual feedback on students and all assignments
  • Communicates, supports, and enforces school policies and procedures
  • Maintains a professional attitude at all times and follows Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s Institutional Policies
  • Accurately reports successful completion of skills
  • Informs Associate Dean of Workforce Education immediately of unsatisfactory academic student progress, discipline or attitude problems, and occurrences that warrant discussion
  • Performs related work as required
  • Instructor may be required to work various hours to accommodate the program goals.  Classes may be offered during the day and evening.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Hold a current WV Class A CDL with endorsements
  • Have an updated DOT physical and pass a drug screen
  • Hazard Material Certification or willing to obtain certification
  • Have four (4) years of satisfactory and reasonably continuous work experience in occupational area.
Salary: $20 per hour
