Nursing Instructor (immediate need) 

Position:         Nursing, Adjunct Faculty
Location:        Work 2 days per week (Wednesday & Thursday, times vary) in clinical setting and                                         laboratory.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional supervisory nursing practice in the care of the physically and mentally ill
  • Work involves responsibility for supervising the provision of quality nursing care given at the facility
  • Maintain the quality and adequacy of nursing practice
  • Recognize and assist in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems in an assigned area
  • Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge to solve nursing problems within established policies and practices
  • Position is reviewed by the supervisor through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained                           

Education Required: 

  • Master’s degree in Nursing; or 
  • Bachelor degree in Nursing and must be admitted into a graduate degree program in nursing within one year of the hire date

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of current experience in nursing practice and education sufficient to demonstrate professional competence
  • Licensed as a registered professional nurse in West Virginia
  • Worked within the last 5 years in Medical/Surgical area of nursing

Human Resource Director/Assistant to the President

Position: Full Time, Benefits eligible; Non-Classified Exempt Status
Location: Moorefield, West Virginia

Eastern WV Community & Technical College seeks a qualified individual to become its next Human Resource Director/Assistant to the President.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the chief officer of the College’s Human Resources function
  • Responsible for the overall management and delivery of human resources programs and services, compliance matters, contract agreements, contract administration, and labor/management relations
  • Responsible for planning, directing, and administering personnel policies and programs for all academic and non-academic personnel in areas, including, but not limited to, employment, hiring, recruitment, benefits, compensation, employee relations, and state and federal regulations
  • Supports the President and senior administration in advancing organizational change
  • Responsible for leading organizational development and managerial training as well as providing leadership to senior management on human resources matters
  • Coordinates operation of the President, Board of Governors and President’s Cabinet in event planning and scheduling, scheduling meetings, taking minutes, etc.
  • Manages and coordinates the President’s complex internal/external calendar ensuring time and detail preparation of all necessary meetings, projects, events, travel and in-office work
  • Manages the communication flow in and out of the President’s office; and researches, composes correspondence, reports, presentations and other materials for the President
  • Provides operational support to the Board of Governors. 

Requirements: 

Education — Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources with management experience required.  Master’s degree strongly recommended.

Experience — Minimum five (5) years recent relevant work experience required.

  • SPHR, PHR, or IMPA-CP certification a plus.  
  • Documented effective administrative, supervisory, and organizational skill experiences, as well as use of computers and technology. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate – orally and in writing – with all organizational levels, internally and externally. 
  • Evidence of community and technical college philosophy commitment.

Salary level will be commensurate with education and experience, plus full and highly competitive benefits package.  Retirement plan options include TIAA-CREF or Great West.

Workforce Instructional Specialist – Cosmetology (Hair, Nails and Aesthetics)

Position: 12 month; Full-Time Benefits Eligible
Location: South Branch Career and Technical Center, Petersburg WV

Eastern WV Community & Technical College seeks innovative instructors committed to community college students and their success. The successful applicant will:

  • utilize various technologies in the classroom and for delivery of instruction;
  • work with the full time Instructional Specialist to design and administer various areas of the program;
  • have ability to work effectively with supervisors, colleagues, staff and students as part of an education team;
  • write and update curricula, including course outlines and syllabi, as required by the institution or industry trends.

Requirements:

  1. Current West Virginia Cosmetology Instructor Certification
  2. Five years salon/shop experience or higher education teaching experience
  3. Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  4. Ability to work with others in a team environment
  5. Excellent organizational skills

Expectations:  This instructor position will teach both traditional and non-traditional students, and will have primary responsibilities for:

  • teaching and assessing learning;
  • institutional service;
  • advising;
  • professional development.

The college seeks to break the frame that traditionally surrounds instructor assignments, especially since academic needs vary. Therefore, instructors should expect to integrate with their primary responsibilities some combination of the following:

  • Creating experiential learning opportunities and assessment techniques (e.g., work-based & service learning; portfolio assessment, including developing and evaluating learning portfolios; etc.)
  • Mentoring: students from target groups, new instructors or faculty, adjunct faculty
  • Designing, formatting and delivering curriculum for live and online courses
  • Training and consulting for workforce initiatives (e.g., for public and corporate partners, etc.)
  • Developing and implementing community education and extended learning programs
  • Partnering with colleagues to enhance services to students and the community
    • recruiting and marketing
    • advising with expanded responsibilities
    • devising retention strategies and activities
    • strengthening relations and collaborative activities with K-12 and baccalaureate-granting colleagues (e.g., Tech-Prep, School-to-Work, 2+2 Programs)

This position is dependent on securing funding and student enrollment.

Administrative Secretary – BTG Grant

Position: Full-time; Pay grade 10, Benefits Eligible; Classified employee, non-exempt status
Location: Main Campus Moorefield

This is a granted funded position that will end 09/30/16 unless other funding source becomes available. This position performs a variety of secretarial duties following established departmental policies, procedures and methods in support of the Bridging the Gap grant.

Responsibilities:

  • Answer telephone calls, provide general information to callers and direct them to the appropriate staff for assistance
  • Schedule meetings, make copies, respond to emails, record meeting minutes
  • Prepare PowerPoint presentations for meetings
  • Make copies and prepare informational packets to provide career information and/or program information to individuals
  • Track student progress and maintain grant records, assist with contacting students to provide tutoring information
  • Other duties as assigned by the Transformation Leader

Requirements:

  • Education – Associate degree required
  • Experience –  18 months of recent secretarial experience required
    • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with office computer software packages, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
    • Responsibilities require the ability to work well with others in a team environment, including the public
