Eastern’s ‘NewBiz Launch Pad’ To Support New Business Start-Ups


Think a business can’t start at a community college? Think again. In honor of Global Entrepreneurship November 17 through 23, Eastern WV Community and Technical College announced several initiatives it is launching to help spur new businesses, economic development and entrepreneurship.

Earn College Credit For ‘Life Learning’: Workshop Nov. 12


Many adults have acquired a wealth of experience and learning through their lives, and some of that prior learning experience may apply towards credits for a college degree. To explore how to earn such learning credit, come to a free workshop November 12, beginning at 6:00 pm, at Eastern WV Community and Technical College in Moorefield.

Evening Cosmetology Classes Forming Now In Petersburg For November


Evening classes that will start in November are forming now at the Cutting Edge Hair Design School in Petersburg to prepare adult learners for the WV state hairstylist exam and licensure.

Wardensville Library Gets 2 Computers Dedicated To Eastern’s Online Courses


Two computers donated by Eastern WV Community and Technical College now allow Wardensville Community Library users direct and dedicated access to the college’s online courses. To allow clients more flexibility in scheduling course attendance, the Library has also extended its hours.

Delegates’ Listening Tour Visits Eastern For Small Business Solutions


More than 40 area residents expressed their views about how to improve conditions for small businesses and entrepreneurs to a bi-partisan panel of eight state legislators. Visiting Easern September 25, the panel included local delegates Allen Evans, Gary Howell and Isaac Sponaugle, as well as Senator Bob Williams.

Grant Sponsors Music & Theatre To Promote Diversity And Equality


A $4,450 ‘Diversity for Equity’ grant will sponsor a series of interactive theatrical presentations in Moorefield that focus on Appalachian-American and African-American culture. Planned for this fall and next spring, the activities at Eastern WV Community and Technical College, aim to increase awareness of cultural diversity on campus and in the community as they promote equal access to higher education opportunities.

Eastern Grad Named APU’s 2014 Top STEM Grad


A Petersburg grandmother received top honors as an “outstanding student” last month from one of the nation’s best-known online universities. American Public University named Cindy Alt one of only six Academic Scholars among more than 5,000 bachelor degree graduates in the class of 2014.

Oct 2 Information Session For WVU’s Online BA Pathway Option


For students thinking of further college learning after graduating Eastern, a representative from WVU’s BA Pathway program will offer a drop-in information session in the main lobby of the Moorefield campus, Thursday October 2, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Eastern’s Short-Term Trainings For Healthcare Jobs Open In Keyser This Fall


At Eastern WV Community and Technical College, area residents can learn the skills necessary for CNA and phlebotomy work. Depending on interest, Eastern will offer the trainings this fall in Keyser at the Mineral County Technical Center. The courses will prepare learners to earn certificates that mean ‘job-competent’ to employers.
