For it leading-edge work in establishing the Institute of Rural Entrepreneurship and Economic Development (IREED), Eastern WV Community and Technical College received the 2015 Innovation Award from the Community Colleges of Appalachia (CCA) annual conference in Asheville, NC last month.
The WVU Parkersburg Partnership has been terminated, effective 2015, due to WVU Parkersburg needing to meet the new CAEP standards and budget cuts at WVU Parkersburg.

Twenty-nine high School counselors from across the Potomac Highlands met with regional industry and employer representatives at The Candlewick Inn in Keyser last week to brainstorm a spectrum of challenges facing “Pre-K to Career Pathways” for student success, and to develop workable solutions.
More than 200 visitors shopped at 23 vendors’ booths for goods and services ranging from jewelry and accessories, beauty, nails and spa treatments, weight loss and health products, home fragrances and décor, cookware, crafts, gourmet foods and gift baskets, purses, totes and bags, and more.
126 college students will officially receive their certificates and/or degrees at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s 2015 Commencement, Saturday May 9, at 10:00 in the gymnasium of the Moorefield Middle School, 303 Caledonia Heights Road, in Moorefield.
A one-stop, all shop, kids’ romp event promises hours of family fun and shopping at the fourth annual Extravaganza Day, Saturday, April 25 in Moorefield. Storm, presents a grant of $2-thousand to Charles ‘Skip’ Landes, the Wind Energy Technology Training instructor at Eastern WV Community and Technical College. Eastern will use the funds to provide safety training for program students learning to climb wind turbines.
