Collaboration & The 'Right Fit' Key To Counselors Luncheon In Keyser


Twenty-nine high School counselors from across the Potomac Highlands met with regional industry and employer representatives at The Candlewick Inn in Keyser last week to brainstorm a spectrum of challenges facing “Pre-K to Career Pathways” for student success, and to develop workable solutions.

126 Eastern Students To Receive Degrees And/Or Certificates At Commencement May 9


126 college students will officially receive their certificates and/or degrees at Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s 2015 Commencement, Saturday May 9, at 10:00 in the gymnasium of the Moorefield Middle School, 303 Caledonia Heights Road, in Moorefield.

One-Stop, All Shop, Kids’ Romp At Eastern’s Spring ‘Extravaganza’ April 25


A one-stop, all shop, kids’ romp event promises hours of family fun and shopping at the fourth annual Extravaganza Day, Saturday, April 25 in Moorefield. Eastern WV Community and Technical College will host the event — admission free— from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on its campus, two miles east of Route 220 off Corridor H.

International Honor Society Inducts 14 Eastern Students

Shell Energy Gives Grant To Eastern For Safety Training


On behalf of Shell Wind Energy, David Myers, the NEDPower operations manager at Mt. Storm, presents a grant of $2-thousand to Charles ‘Skip’ Landes, the Wind Energy Technology Training instructor at Eastern WV Community and Technical College. Eastern will use the funds to provide safety training for program students learning to climb wind turbines.

Eastern Instructor's Poem Honored Among Top 12 At International Festival


A poem that wrests hard-won hope and hints of redemption from the midst of chaos and violence earned a Potomac Highlands college instructor ‘Top 12’ performance honors at the Bridgewater College International Poetry Festival in Virginia last month.

Eastern Grad Earns B.A. From Shepherd After Successful Student Teaching


This past fall, Amy Stankwich student-taught five days a week in Robert Nixon’s fifth grade classroom at Slanesville Elementary in Hampshire County. In December, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, K-6.

To celebrate Black History Month, world-renowned actress, musician and story-teller Ilene Evans will bring a free lunch-and-learn return engagement of her one-woman show, General Moses: Stories from the Life of Harriet Tubman to Eastern West Virginia Community & Technical College, at 316 Eastern Drive in Moorefield.
